About Me

I’m Jess and I am a wife, a mama of 2 girls, and a Registered Dietitian (RD). I earned my BS in Dietetics with a specialization in Health Promotion from Michigan State University (Go Green!). I love being a dietitian because my job relates to everyone. Who doesn’t eat food? I love food and I love talking about it. However, since a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about eating, I also cover two topics that play a big role in my life: fitness and finance.

My husband & I tied the knot in May 2010 and started the process of paying off student loans in July 2011 which totaled about $30,000. The book Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey was a great resource that helped us establish a budget in order to pay off our loans quickly so we could start saving and investing! Within 9 months we officially became 100% debt free! We bought our first home in March 2013 so that changes things a bit but it feels great to have our money work for us now. I am blessed to be a stay-at-home mama while still pursuing my passion as a dietitian by running online nutrition & fitness accountability groups.

There are a LOT of sites out there on food, fitness, and finance, so my goal is to share practical, applicable information. We all wish we’d eat better, move more, budget wisely, and had more time to do all of this. My hope is that this site will help you make the most of every bite 🙂 Be sure to Subscribe to Budget For Health and follow our journey to stay healthy on a budget. I’ve also written over 100 articles for Derek at Life and My Finances so head on over there to see some of my stuff as well as other smart financial reads.
